As we reach the midpoint of the spring semester at CTBC International Academy, it is wonderful to see how the initial energy of the new year has transformed into a steady, focused momentum. We are now well-integrated into our routines, and our students continue to approach their studies with a motivated and curious spirit. To celebrate this mid-semester milestone, our students recently took their learning beyond the classroom walls for an unforgettable trip to the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology in Keelung.
The day was anchored by a spectacular cinematic experience, as students watched a specialized feature on sharks in their natural habitats. This deep dive into the lives of these powerful marine predators sparked fascinating discussions about biodiversity and the delicate balance of our oceans. It was a perfect example of how the “meaningful projects” we strive for in the classroom can come to life through real-world observation.
In addition to the shark feature, students spent the day navigating the museum’s diverse permanent exhibits. From the engineering marvels of maritime technology to the vibrant ecosystems of Taiwan’s coastal waters, the museum served as a vast, interactive laboratory. Witnessing our students connect their science and geography lessons to the exhibits before them was a highlight of the semester so far.
A day of exploration requires plenty of fuel, and the students thoroughly enjoyed a hearty buffet lunch. This mid-day break allowed everyone to relax, recharge, and share their favorite discoveries from the morning. These moments of connection—sharing a meal and a laugh with peers—are essential for student well-being and remind us that our community is just as important as our curriculum.
As we look toward the second half of the semester, we remain committed to balancing academic achievements with these vital chances to learn and grow together. The fresh air and sea views of Keelung provided a wonderful “reset” as we prepare for the final months of the academic year.
