Week 15 -Science Lab!

Our students have had a fantastic month of hands-on science! In the classroom, they explored physical chemistry by creating “Oobleck,” a unique fluid that turns solid when squeezed and acts like a liquid when released. They also built their own low-voltage battery circuits to test which liquids can conduct electricity.
We also transformed the lab into an interactive zoology room! Students practiced safe handling and compared the unique traits of three live reptilian guests: a gentle African Fat-Tailed Gecko, a juvenile African Spurred Tortoise, and a Yellow-Spotted River Turtle. We learned how their shells and bodies are perfectly adapted for digging, swimming, or storing energy.
Finally, our rooftop garden box provided a wonderful, real-world lesson in botany. While our basil is thriving, our tomato plants experienced some browning, sparking a student-led investigation into how plants share soil and compete for water. Next week, we dive into Earth Systems with volcano modeling and the rock cycle!
