Week 16 -Sharing Smiles Through Song

Our Grade 1 and Grade 2 students recently had a wonderful opportunity to visit a local care home and share the joy of music with the residents. The students performed a selection of songs they had been practising in class, filling the room with smiles, laughter, and plenty of enthusiasm. Their hard work and dedication were evident as they sang confidently and proudly for their audience.
The visit was a meaningful experience for everyone involved. Our students showed great confidence, kindness, and respect as they performed. It was heartwarming to see the connections formed through music, with many residents singing along, clapping to the beat, and smiling throughout the performance. The students were delighted to see how much happiness their songs brought to others.
Prior to the visit, students spent time rehearsing and discussing the importance of being thoughtful members of the community. They learned that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s day. For many students, this was their first opportunity to perform for an audience outside of school, making the experience both exciting and memorable.
Beyond developing their performance skills, the visit helped our students learn valuable lessons about empathy, compassion, and the importance of building connections across generations. Experiences like these encourage children to look beyond themselves and appreciate the positive impact they can have on others.
