As we approached the end of the school year, students worked on culminating projects in various subjects. One important feature of these projects was student choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research shows that when students are given opportunities to make choices about their learning, they become more engaged, motivated, and invested in their work. For English language learners, choice can be especially valuable because it allows students to showcase their understanding in ways that match their strengths, interests, and language development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While all students work toward the same learning goals, choice allows them to demonstrate their knowledge in a way that feels meaningful and achievable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For final projects, students had options such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25cf Designing a poster or visual display
\u25cf Writing a story, report, or reflection
\u25cf Producing a digital project<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benefits of Student Choice:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
